Trinamool Congress General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee thanked West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Tuesday for taking up the issues over the MGNREGA funds with the central government. The TMC MP thanked the Governor for his “prompt” action and said, “My heartfelt gratitude to the @BengalGovernor C V Ananda Bose, for promptly addressing the pressing issue concerning the welfare of the people of Bengal.”

CV Ananda Bose met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi where they discussed the West Bengal government’s claims for due central funds on account of MGNREGA.

Following the meeting with the Bengal Governor on Monday, the TMC withdrew its indefinite sit-in protest outside the Raj Bhavan after five days. The ruling party in West Bengal had started the protest against the central government stopping MGNREGA funds to the state.
