Railway Protection Force ties up with Mpower for mental health care for personnel

The Western Railway Protection Force (RPF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mpower, a mental health organisation, in a move to address mental health concerns among its personnel.

Under this initiative, named Mpower Suraksha, 1,500 RPF staff members will undergo mental health screening and counselling in the first phase of the programme.

On the initiative, Principal Chief Security Commissioner/RPF, Western Railway, said, “Mpower Suraksha will prioritise and enhance mental health initiatives for railway police force personnel by providing helpline services, awareness sessions, training, screening, and counselling.”

Vice President of Operations at Mpower said, “The program will unfold in three stages: awareness, screening, and counselling. RPF personnel will have access to helpline services throughout the phases.”

“We have conducted workshops with Mumbai police in the past, and the results were positive. They now have better awareness about mental health.”

The initiative is especially crucial for the RPF personnel, many of whom reside in Mumbai without their families. The collaboration comes months after an RPF constable tragically shot three passengers and his senior staff on a train.
