UP Cabinet expansion expected by Navratri; Rajbhar, Dara Singh likely to return

The expansion of the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is likely to take place by Navratri, which will begin on October 15. There are speculations of MLAs Om Prakash Rajbhar and Dara Singh Chauhan returning to the Cabinet.

Ever since Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party President Om Prakash Rajbhar became a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Dara Singh Chauhan left the Samajwadi Party (SP) and joined the BJP, there has been a buzz about them becoming ministers.

Though the BJP’s defeat in the Ghosi bypoll marred Dara Singh Chauhan’s aspirations, he kept trying to keep his chances in the Cabinet intact.

According to sources, many faces may be dropped off the cabinet. They said the Chief Minister was not happy with the working style of some ministers and was planning to remove them from the ministry.

Some new faces are eagerly waiting to get a position in Team Yogi 2.0 amid talk of a fresh shuffle. However, the BJP has indicated that only necessary changes will be made in the cabinet.

The party has said the cabinet changes will be in accordance with the 2024 general election strategy.

Meanwhile, talks of Chauhan getting a Cabinet position despite losing in the recent bypoll are raising several eyebrows.

The BJP is looking at retaining Dara Singh Chauhan to increase its vote share in the eastern part of the state during the 2024 polls.
