Video: Crocodile strolls in residential area in Bengal’s Bardhaman, rescued safely

A giant crocodile was rescued from a residential neighbourhood in West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district. The reptile is said to have escaped the Bhagirathi River, stirring panic among the residents of Ward No. 10’s Palpara locality in Kalna city, Purba Bardhaman.

The rescue operation lasted over a night and the authorities could not get hold of the giant reptile until 7 am on Tuesday. Throughout the night, locals kept a vigilant watch on the crocodile’s movements. Eyewitnesses said that the fully grown crocodile was first spotted near the Bhagirathi riverbank between 1 pm and 1:30 pm on Monday.

Slowly, it ventured into densely populated areas, sparking fear among the locals. The incident prompted immediate action, with local authorities notifying the Kalna Police Station, Kalna Fire Brigade, and the Forest Department.
